Getting to Know Jacksonville’s Neighborhoods
Focus on Intracoastal West
Encompassing a large sprawling area of Jacksonville’s southside, Intracoastal West is a desirable neighborhood that has seen large growth over the past 20 years. Located east of I-295 and north of J Turner Butler Blvd., you can easily see why the community has been a desirable place to move to. Depending on the specific subdivision, you are centrally located halfway between downtown Jacksonville and the beaches.
Only 20 to 30 years ago the area was mainly pine trees and roads that lead to the beaches. With the explosive growth in homes and shopping centers, you never have to leave this enclave now. Easy access and newer roads mean fast transportation for getting to where you want to be. Residents of the area really enjoy being able to get around easily to work at large office parks on the southside or downtown. Plus, being able to hop over the Intracoastal Waterway for a trip to the beaches for fun and entertainment.
Homes in the area tend to be built in the 1990s or newer, with many new home communities still popping up. The area also offers a variety of price ranges to choose from, with townhouse and condo options in addition to smaller single family homes there are plenty of residences to choose from for a first-time home buyer. From there you can go up the property ladder all the way to multi-million dollar waterfront homes with gorgeous views of the Intracoastal.
Nearby you’ll find plenty of parks that feature sports fields, hiking, kayaking and so much more. Schools are plentiful in the area and you are right near the shopping mecca of the St. Johns Town Center.
Consider the Intracoastal West area if you are interested in ease of commute with amenities nearby and just a short drive to the beaches.
