Spring is here in Northeast Florida

What a great time to be outside in Florida right now!

The weather is just about perfect this time of year as we leave the winter months. With the warming weather, the plants are starting to bloom and so are many people’s ideas about their homes. Traditionally, here in northeast Florida, the beginning of March kicks off the spring/summer buying season. Families are starting to plan their moves over the summer or are getting their homes ready to sell now so they can be prepared.

There are many reasons why the change in a season puts a little spring in a buyer and seller’s step. Many families with kids want to have their children settled and enrolled in their new schools over the summer so they can be ready to hit the ground running in the fall school calendar. Also, now is a great time to showcase a home’s curb appeal. Grasses are turning greener and many flowering plants are starting to come out. Having a great curb appeal gives a home tremendous marketing power in photos and first impressions. Not to mention having sunny weather makes it easier to complete home projects prior to selling and for buyers to view homes.

This year the market got off to an early start with buyers looking to lock in a low-interest rate before they arise. So I would expect this traditional home selling season to be hotter than normal. Multiple offers are still the norm on most homes and inventory is still low throughout the region. Buyers need to be ready and preapproved with a lender to make an offer once they see the home of their dreams.

This is why having the assistance of a trusted and professional Realtor makes a big difference. Much like when planting your garden you need to prep the soil and get it ready for plants. In a home sale or purchase, you need to lay the groundwork and have a good plan for success as you enter into the season.
